where there is fear there is no love but where there is love there is no fear

Now THAT'S a great question!  I just got my first computer at the beginning of this year.  I really didn't know what to expect once I started surfing and all.  I had purposely kept myself ignorant about computers, the web, etc. My theory being, the best way to learn about pcs and their uses would be via searching the various help & support forums around the web.

Well, I was right.  For every problem I've had, whether it be lost files, software & hardware issues, or performance problems etc., somebody else has already been where I've been and raided the internet for appropriate recourse.  I also found that, personally, the more I type into a google search box (sometimes formed as a question), the better my results.  I believe that's how I was redirected to YEDDA.

In answer to your question, I think I just like to talk and have a tough time finding a captive audience.  And, well, I do think I know a lot. Or at least have an opinion on any given topic (see "I like to talk" above).  Whether anybody listens to my sage advice or not really doesn't concern me.  I'm all about the mental exercise and experience I get from addressing the variety of issues I'm finding out there.  Some of which, (surprisingly) I have no knowledge of... or opinion about, whatsoever.

I wanted to comment on a story about the 'Octomom.' In order to do so, I had to become a member of the Yedda community.

From there, I began reading questions and answering a few. Then I asked one or two of my own.

And that led me to make the acquaintance of several other Yeddai who have since become my very good friends (both on and off line).

I stayed because I got hooked on Yedda - not so much on the answering questions and helping people (although I did do quite a lot of that) but because of the sense of camaraderie and friendship and genuine interaction I found, as well as the general ease of use and simple layout of the site.

(In fact, I went through a terrible Yedda experience with stalking and identity theft. I came under attack repeatedly - once for over a 10 hour stretch - and it was ONLY my friendships with other Yeddai that made me choose to stick it out and stay a part of the Yedda community.)

Yedda's site wasn't confusing, it was easy to read and I didn't have to have a degree in computer science to figure out where I was or how to navigate through the pages.

I still enjoy my Yedda friendships and I still answer questions from other Yeddai. But I have to say, I don't answer nearly as many as I used to - and the site is not nearly as enjoyable to me as it once was since it changed format.
