What is this made of ???
If it is real Ivory then it is made form elephant tusks.
Doesn't look like jade or ivory to me, it looks more like jasper. I've never seen jade or ivory with stripes.
thanks so much !!
i think its ivory..its very old...i dont think ivory is allowed to be sold.
what about the other gemstone???
thanks
It is not jade or ivory. Ivory does not have those striations. Jade would not have such uniformity of its inclusions. Jade was more valuable than gold to meso americans (& aztecs etc) as it could be heated very hot & dropped in water to boil it without cracking.Highly prized characteristic without metal pots. would be definitive test.
Forgot to mention .it could be onyx. someone else said jasper i saw
Hi I am not an expert but think the bottom two bears could be soap stone, are they really cold if you put them to your face? This is a good link which might help
