How are viruses transmitted from udrives

can portable computer udrives contain viruses? recently someone I know (and do not necessarily trust) allowed me to look at a word program he had brought me on a portable u drive--as soon as I connected to my laptop-my Kaperski virus warning went off saying there was a worm virus?? I immediatley removed the device and deleted the virus..  do you think this was done intentionally-was he trying to give me a virus??

Any type of drive can have a virus on it, and any drive that you connect to your computer can transmit a virus. As soon as you connect a drive to your PC, data is being transferred, and the virus is part of that data. He probably wasn't trying to do anything,  Laughing   The guy may have not even known about the virus on his own PC.  Sounds like he needs some good antivirus program on his computer, lol.  Maybe you should tell him about Kapersky .  Sounds like it did a great job of protecting your PC! Cool
