I have found numerous little pods on the screening ...

I have found numerous little pods on the screening and main support poles on my screened porch. They remind me od the small pods, spiders usually make while growing into adulthood. Also wasps but these are not made of mud, rather the silky substance of a caterpillar cocoon. They seem to contain a small black worm. I live in Central Florida. Anyone know waht these pods are? Thanks......Jinny

It's most likely moth, although butterflies have cocoons as well.

Basically the larvae grow into caterpillars, and then build the cocoon around them so they can evovle to their final stage.
