It once happened to me when I was young and I went to the hospital and they gave me some ointment to reduce the swelling and prevent infection, if after a week, her toe is still swollen, I would go and get it checked. The nail will turn black and then possibly fall off or grow out - it is not pleasant! she needs to not pick at it!
