Perhaps there are similarities between the terrorist groups, LTTE and Hamas, but has the Israeli government violated as many human rights as the Sri Lankan Government? The latter has been responsible for disappearances, rapes, denial of fair trials and no freedom of press (it's the fifth most dangerous country for a journalist to be in, after Iraq and worse than Afganistan, Pakistan and Russia). I think sometimes, one loses sight of the evils committed by a particular state or government because the focus is on the terrorist groups. 70,000 people have died in this war since 1983, most of them tamil civilians at the hands of the Sri Lankan government. There is more of a similarity with Nazi Germany and the Sri Lankan Government intent on belittling it's minorities for the sake of Singhalese supremacy.
I wonder if you know about the history of Sri Lanka and the superiority felt by the singhalese population who feel, because they are descended from Bengalis of North India, they are more Aryan than their Tamil brothers and have more of a right to live in Sri Lanka. Every successive government of Sri Lanka since the British left in 1948 have instigated racist policies to appease the majority singhalese at the expense of the tamil minority. The Tamils had used Gandhi priniciples of non-violence for many years before resorting to violence and terrorism in the 1980's.
If you really want to put Israel in the same ball park as the Sri Lankan government, perhaps you should also consider the other Fascist states in the world too. Do you really want your Government to be tarred with the same brush of a country with such a record?
