our collie recently tore up our remote control to our amana 12,000 btu window unit and now we cant get the unit to come on. when we try and start the unit it comes up error (1). is there a special code we can use to start our uniy without the remote?

Unplugging an electrical unit for a few minutes will usually reset it. I don’t know if it will work in your case, but have you tried this?
