I own a coop in joint tenancy with my daughter. She has lived in it for 10 years.I have never lived in the apartment. If we sell, do we qualify for the $250,000 capital gains exemption?
If the taxpayer or the spouse lived in it 2 out of the last 5 years, then you get a $250,000 excemption. But NOT for the daughter.
