I've taken Ritalin since Jan., '09, and would like stop taking the medication. Do I stop cold-turkey, or gradually stop taking the medication?
Why do you want to stop? If you don't like it matbe change the dose would be better? But don't just stop cold. You get off it a little at a time. People I know would fight to keep it.
i quit it cold turkey but then starting smoking more but it has not been that long. i assume you are not seeing the psych anymore so that is why you want to quit. its u to you there are small detox though.

Are you taking Ritalin or a generic? Are you ADHD? The doctors tell me that the ritalin runs out of your system after your last dose. But, suggests that you do not stop medications abruptly. Gradually back out of your dose. If you take 5 tabs/pills a day take 4 the next etc. Why do you want to stop meds? If you are not getting the results that you should I agree with Elden talk to your doctor about something else. In the summer I take my grandson off all meds, he does very well in the summer where he gets plenty of exercise and sunshine.
