Is selling your gold worth it?

Hey, I was looking at the site we buy gold and I was wondering the new thing that selling your gold can give you a lot of money. What I want to now is, will you get a lot of cash for your old gold jewelry, or do they charge chump change.

Smile and someone will smile back at you.

Craig, there's all kind of buyers and they are some good and a lot of bad.

If you have a lot and been watching gold prices you know we have been holding around $950. a Troy ounce 99.9% pure.  Follow the money trail.  Gold want move  til oil hits another big  price.  Watch oil and hit asap on gold.  If you don't  have a lot of knowledge about gold, you will probably get taken.  Know you bottom dollar when you walk in the door.  Stay firm!!!  If you dilly dally back and forth too much, you will become confused.  We have four US Mints.  Call and ask them if they can give you advice?  Jewelry doesn't go to far with gold.  A ladies ring is maybe, high end in 18K is $135 top end.. Not what you will get.  Good Luck.

I may not be Mr. Know It All, but I knew him well and he taught me much.

The answer is no. More exactly though, if you do, then you are going to be ripped off without a doubt. If you look back at this topic you will see the long answer spelled out. If you don't look back because that's too much like work or studying, then maybe getting ripped off would be the best lesson. There's no such thing as an easy way to make money.

Even your old jewerly gold they will buy it and I assume you your gold will turn to lot of money. Try this one they are buying gold for highly price. cash 4 gold

Don't do it!  You will get FAR less than the value of your gold.  First get a magnifying glass and look at each piece to determine karat weight. Here's a scale:  22K = 91.6% gold.  18 K = 75%, 14K = 58.33%, 12K = 50%, and 10K = 41.66% gold.  You will need a  small scale to weigh each piece to determine how much pure gold is in each piece.  480 grains per 1 troy oz of gold.

You can't expect to get the current value of gold from your pieces, currently about $950 per oz, but you should get at least 75% of the value.  Your best bet is to go to a local coin shop that trades in gold, and know the value of your stuff before you go.  They should give you a fair price for your stuff, but if not at least 75% walk away.  The mail in places are ripoffs.

You'll find several buyers but most will give you scrap value. You need to find a jeweler who appreciates old gold and jewelry and will value it for its aesthetic value as well as its history and market desirability. To sell gold in New York (even if you are from a nearby place), try a reputable business like Fabrkant Fine Diamonds Inc. They are experts in estate jewelry buying and will be professionally evaluate your gold to give you a much better price. Talk to them at (212) 557-4888 for more details.

There are some good gold buyers out there and some bad. Be careful and research the company you choose before you do business with them and sell your gold. I'd recommend considering a gold party where you can sell your gold in the comfort of a friend's home, have them weight the gold in front of you, etc.
