Would I save money by cutting out the middleman and taking my car to an air condition co.?

I think my air conditioner for my car needs more helium because it barely puts out any cold air. The places I have taken it to want way too much just to simply "recharge" (no idea why they call it that). Is there anything to prevent me from having better luck going direct to an air conditioning company? Cut out the middleman, when things cost too much?

It is illegal to have any A/C coolant (freon etc) escape into the atmosphere due to environmental regulations across the country, therefore the best (and only) way to take care of a weak A/C system in a car is to evacuate it and recharge it, but make sure they check for leaks as this may be the cause of your A/C issues.

Most of your better auto repair shops have the proper equipment to perform this procedure and most will charge about the same so I doubt you would save much $$ from place to place.

You don't use helium in an air conditioning unit you use feron and all you probably need is a rechargeing of the unit
