Is is safe to donate blood every two weeks?

I have been diagnosed with Hemochromotosis. My doctor is having me donate blood every two weeks until my hematocrit is 36. Everywhere I've read says one should only donate every 56 days. What are the risks of my donating so often? I am feeling so tired. Thanks, Kathy
