There is many different ways to start a business. First time business owners Grants, If you are a female, if you are a minority, If you are disabled, Whatever background you have or come from you do not need a lot of money or great credit for this. there are federal fundings available to help start your business venture. Go to http/www.grants.gov or visit small business development centers in your area, you can find them on line. The SBDC will provide you with a lot of answers to your questions. I think you are talking about becoming a real estate agent? Virtually all agents are self-employed and work under the supervision of a broker. Otherwise one becomes a broker with more rigorous licensing and education critera. There are unique state laws and regulation so check with your state government for licensing regulation. There are online schools to help with your education, again check with your state for acceptable providers.

I didn't make any money for over 6 months and then didn't make more than subsistance for the first year and that was over a decade ago. The current market offers opportunity but competition is keen.
