The whistling in your water pipes is caused by air in the lines. When it collects at a faucet you get violent vibrations (water hammer), until then you have only whistling. The remedy is to turn off all fixtures, leave water main on, then crack open each fixture slowly, one at a time, starting with the fixture closet to the water source. Good luck.
