Hi, I am VK from India and have a child age 8 yrs ...

Hi, I am VK from India and have a child age 8 yrs old. me & my husband want another child ..we tried for 3 months naturally .no luck. i am 40 yrs old. my doctor suggested ivf. in 1st ivf cycle, there were only few follicles of 11 to 14 mm. so we cancelled the cycle.after 1&1/2 months, we started 2nd cycle.during lupron & fsh injections, i still was not responding on follicles maturity. i had 3 on left & 2 on right ovary oout of which only 2 were 14 & 16 mm. dr.again cancelled it. the blood test showed that there is no further potential to grow these two follicles.

I wish to know, if for 2 cycles, the follicles response was not good, so it is necessary that during 3rd cycle also it may be poor or can it improve? what should be the gap between two FSH Injection cycles?

Track your menstrual cycles. Write down the date that you start your period each month. This will help to establish a pattern upon which you can then base your average menstrual cycle. Your menstrual cycle begins on the first day of your period and ends the day before your next period.

  • Step 2
Use an online ovulation calculator, such as the ones featured on American Pregnancy or Baby Hopes sites, to determine your ovulation time. You will find the link to those websites in your Resources section. The calculator tools will require that you enter the first day of your last period as well as the average length of your menstrual cycles. The tool will then give you a date range in which you will most likely ovulate. Keep in mind that these tools give you their best estimation of your ovulation window but are not surefire ways to determine ovulation dates.

  • Step 3
Know that most women ovulate about 14 days before their menstrual cycle ends. If your menstrual cycle is 28 days long, you will likely ovulate around day 14. Conversely, if your menstrual cycle is 34 days long, you will likely ovulate around day 20. While the egg must be fertilized within 24 hours of ovulation, your fertility window is actual wider than that since sperm can remain alive in the body for up to five days. Most women are fertile between five and seven days each month.

  • Step 4
Observe your vaginal discharge. Ovulation causes changes in cervical fluid which is discharged through the vagina. When you ovulate, the discharge will resemble the whites of raw eggs. Prior to ovulation, the discharge takes on a more watery consistency.

  • Step 5
Take your temperature every morning, before you get out of bed, and record it. Your body temperature will drop one-half degree after you have ovulated.

  • Step 6
Purchase a home ovulation predictor test. These predictor tests detect LH, also known as the luteinizing hormone. LH levels rise directly after ovulation. The kits will detect this rise, informing you that you are currently fertile

Well, honestly I do not know anything about those injections but there alot of things that can make you have some problems conceiving. Wanting another child is very overwhelming and when out of luck you tend to stress about it. And to the fact yes because of old age you might have problems conceiving but there are options. But the most important thing is to relax and take it easy and the best time to conceive is when you are ovulating.
