Why does everyone love to insult and say bad ...

Why does everyone love to insult and say bad things and aim to destroy people's careers when some important person has been found to have had an extra affair?  Nevada's senator John Ensign has come forward lately to confess to doing just that, and personally I couldn't care less.  In Utah, just a state away from Nevada, or should I say rubbing shoulders with Nevada, people can have as many wives as they want.  Solomon had 1000 and is a well respected dude in the Bible. The king of Madagascar has around 12 wives last I heard.  Noone shouts insults about him or tries to ruin his career.  When a person has made a succesful political career  to this level that John Ensign has gotten to, or actually had great success in almost any field, they will have lots of admirers and many people they do business with.  For me I think it is far worse to have a divorce than to have an extra affair.  When you have a divorce you're ruining the lives of any kids that came from that couple.  On the other hand, if  a kid has not only a biological mom but several other 'almost-moms'  living in the same house, heck he can get even more attention and help.  So why do people love to see the negative side of everything, especially when a man has an extra affair going on outside his marriage?  Personally I just don't give a hoot about other people's affair(s).  If Solomon wasn't condemned I"m sure it is just fine.

"There is no terror in your threats, Cassius, for I am armed so strong in honesty that they pass me by as idle wind-which I respect not."    Shakespeare

Politicians present a "facade" to the public and one of the more significant elements is their "family value(s)" persona.  If this  basal representation is false, how are you able to accept their veracity on other promises that they or their campaign promulgate?  For many politicians, especially those that have publicly berated others for similar activity.  It's hypocritical and for those that need the evangelical conservative base a real hurdle.

I don't know that Biblical references' help sway evangelical Christians.  They tend to be rather steadfast in their beliefs.  And having "several 'almost moms'" as a positive is assuming alot about those moms.

First, you said "I  don't  know that biblical references help sway evangelical Christians" .  So I guess they don't follow the bible?  That seems to be pretty much what you're saying.  I pretty  much agree. They just tend to recite it in church on sundays.

Secondly, they also recite how we are all sinners and need to be forgiven and so why can't they forgive?

Thirdly.  If we are all sinners and  Jesus died for our sins, then who gives a hoot?  So he sinned and slept with another lady besides his wife.  Well all he has to do is pray to Jesus and believe in him and that should be fine by what you preach in your churches.  Or is that only true on sundays inside a church.

I remember a christian student trying to convince me that unless I converted to christianity, and went to the church that she and her relatives went to, that I would go to hell when I died and never be forgiven for my sins. That seems to be the message that christians are trying to spread all over the world.  But now when some powerful person sins you change your  story completely.  They're sins are just unforgivable (and they should be forced out of their job).  So then what did Jesus die for? I'm confused.

I suggest they start reading the bible a little more carefully 7 days a week instead of one, and finding more connections to it, and most of all work on themselves rather than just condemning others. It seems condemning others is much easier and takes less work , so that is what they strongly prefer to do.  Remember, when we die what determines whether or not we get into heaven isn't how well we condemned others, but how well we lived our own life.

"There is no terror in your threats, Cassius, for I am armed so strong in honesty that they pass me by as idle wind-which I respect not."    Shakespeare

The Conservative Christians interpret the Bible the same way that radical Muslims interpret the Koran.  They tend to follow the parts that support their agenda's and ignore those portions that condemn the "sins" they wish to commit.  Thus,  "THOU SHALL NOT KILL" becomes  "THOU SHALL NOT KILL...except for abortion doctors".   "LOVE THY NEIGHBOR" would have the codicil "except for gays and lesbians".  In Mathew 7:1-5 "judge not, lest ye be judged.  For in the same way that you judge others, You will be judged, and with the measure that you use, it will be measured unto you.  Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye when all the time there is a plank in your own eye.  You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."  Many people read this and see it as a justification to interfere and do God's work for him...they must think he's busy...or inept...and so they just ignore Jesus when he said  "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone".

Your second point about "forgiveness" is reserved for those people that acquiesce to their particular belief system.  People that have different beliefs are somehow inferior and not deserving of their forgiveness.  Thats one of the reasons that the Republican party is dying.  The conservative wing will fight inclusion of any group or individual that would modify their perceive sanctity of their religious beliefs.  They believe that they are the defenders of the "true-American lifestyle" and Democrats, independents, liberals, aliens (legal and illegal), atheist, agnostics, gays, minorities, feminist, Jews, Muslims, Asians, Latino's, "anyone for gun control" and of course A.C.O.R.N. are arrayed against them.

Your third point about who should care about a politician that cheats on his wife and why should it matter.  It really shouldn't...EXCEPT... it shows that person is capable of violating one of our most "sacred" trusts...the trust between a man and his wife...for selfish reasons.  It's not the face that this politician has sold to the constituency that elected him.  If he's capable of disregarding his marital vows and his obligation to his own family for a dalliance and jeopardizing the families of both parties...it has becomes an issue of trust...if he could do something like that to his wife and children...where do his constituents fit into his thinking.

You are "right-on" with your last sentence (not that I disagree with any of your points).  God made each of us big enough and bright enough to take care of ourselves.  He gave us kids to keep us busy...and grandkids as a reward for doing a good job with our kids.  Thank you for such a nice, civil conversation.

thank you for the nice conversation too.  I hope someday we can all surrender to each other. Then there will be peace. I always like the lines from Psalm 23 that says "though preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies, thou anointest my head with oil, and my cup runneth over"

To me I see that as meaning we all gather together and surrender to each other and dump out all our hate and hard feelings and start a  life of peace together.  I hope someday that will be possible.

"Life is a banquet and most poor [scoffers] are starving to death!"  Auntie Mame

Barrack Hussein Obama, and his secretive gang of criminals, spread enough psychotic malice about Bush to end the American political process.  Yes, folks, that is 100% pure black supremacist racism, as bitter and potentially violent as the antichrist that they fanatically worship.

Of course, people who raise their hackles against Jesus do so because they are consumed with Hitlerian hate -- they say so themselves, every chance that they get.

The thing is, there is too much racism and hate in the world as it is.  We don't need more sellouts, disloyal socialists, and satanists to teach our kids cult violence and, "That to rage against the machine is the final rising goal of the new world order!"

You criminals think you can scare people with your Obamite lies.

Kids, you don't know the games that you play, or on whose behalf you play them.

That is the price of leftist ignorance, bitterness, stupidity, and racism.

The good part is that those vices are exclusively the fault of purple-haired leftists.

At least, when the treachery and bias of our leftist lunatics comes out for its full true vice, no one can possibly say that it was my fault.

Well Dr Strangelove if you're so concerned about evil, hate of jesus, purplehaired leftists, and leftists criminals, well I'm sure you forgive them all. For if you don't you're not following in the path of Jesus.

But I'm not so sure that the leftists are as bad as you say. Afterall in Iran right now, who are we condemning?  The conservatives, or the young liberal leftists?

"There is no terror in your threats, Cassius, for I am armed so strong in honesty that they pass me by as idle wind-which I respect not."    Shakespeare

Yea, verily a man will  come unto you clad in the robes of righteousness and speaking God's truth...but thou shall know him NOTHe shall bring great joy to the many, but to those who know him not it shall be as if an affliction of boils were upon them and they shall writhe and froth at the mouth in their anger.  There children will turn away in shame and they shall go forth to wander in the desert with no ATM card and a cell phone with NO SIGNAL.  There they shall fast for forty minutes until the waitress from Denny's brings them their bread and they shall tip her not, for their bread was stale and their Coke glasses were not refilled.  They shall live in such misery, until a messenger of the Lord shall seek them out and open their eyes and soothe their hearts...with Pepto-Bismol for they were filled with the acid of "reflux" from greasy fries and spicy meats.  In their hearts they will rejoice  for they shall recognize the "word" and their hackles will lie flat and smooth and their hair will become...purple...

Sorry I don't eat yeasted breads and I don't drink coke.  I don't eat fish, meat , dairy or sugar. I eat a healthy diet.  I never eat out. I eat only my own meals. They're much healthier. God helped me find good health this way through the macrobiotic diet.  I hope he helps you find it someday too.  Keep saying your prayers. The wars in this world are caused partly by the unhealthy diets we eat and the many sick minds created from them that can't find other solutions. The sickness brought on by our horrible diets these days is what is leading to the rising illnesses in humans, and probably to our becoming extinct eventually.   It is amazing how many doctors we have and how illnesses just keep  becoming worse and worse. So basically what you wrote is pure nonsense to me.
