I have a used 3.7Mercruiser 165HP, 1988.There is no 90 amp fuse at the starter. This engine is equipped with a water-cooled voltage regulator. I need to know if the ORANGE wire, from the voltage regulator,,from the voltage regulator connect directly to the starter connects to the two RED/purple,from the circuit breaker,and the starter slave solenoid,, or,, does the ORANGE wire connect directly to the starter ?  Thank You for your help!!

Orange wire goes to starter with the two heavy red cables

My slave sol. Left side has yellow w/red stripe to bottom of starter sol.

Left front has thin yellow w/.Red

Right front has purple w/yellow stripe

Right side of sol. Has solid red

Hello Robert,Thanks for your answer,Right after I wrote the question,i found ths schematic in a Clymer Manual,, It showed the orange wire attached to the starter,just like you said.Thanks,again,,,   John
