I started with symptoms a week ago. Bright light causes blotchy vission and may or not be followed by a headache, but of no severity. Vision returns after about 1 hour if I go to a dark room. It has been happening for 8 days whenever I look at a bright light. I am worried about whether This will go on and on. What I find odd is that when I close my eyes (during an attack) I see a semi circle of very bright light with black cris crosses in it. When that goes I know I can emerge. Is this typical of Migrain ?

It sounds to me like migraine symptoms. You should speak to your doctor to find out if you should start taking migraine medication.
