Can non-Catholics go to heaven

According to contemporary Catholic orthodoxy, who besides Catholics can be saved?  Coptic Christians, Lutherans, Jews, Mormons, Muslims, Buddhists, Farsi, Shintoists, the Dalai Lama, athiests, agnostics.  Could an unorthodox Communist like Berthold Brecht make the cut?   Where and how does God draw the line?

Non Catholics will get into Heaven before Catholics who relie on idols to worship and antiquated rituals/ Those with a God fearing, Christ believing are first as for the rest, they'll just have to wait to see if they are judged rightiously.

I am an Agnostic, but here's what I think: If you believe in God and Heaven, then that's where you'll end up.

Are we going to equate God with the advisory signs at the amusement park or carnival?

"You must be THIS TALL to ride the Twisting Tumbler."

I don't think God has a little sign which says, "You must believe in God 'THIS MUCH' in order to enter heaven."

Revelation 22:15 says; For without are dogs, and sorceres and whoremongers and murderers and idolaters and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.  After reading this chapter, I don't believe that Catholics will empower Heaven.  However, all the above mentioned will not be those things once they accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.  Asking forgiveness and really meanin it (God knows if we mean it) and then striving to live a Godly life will certainly allow the entrance into our eternal home.  We must first recognize that we are sinners and that sin will send us to hell.  Confessing to a prist is not the answer.  The only source we have is telling God our sins and asking Him to save our souls.  Go forth in His glory.  Anyone can find forgiveness if they seek God and show him sorrow.  Remember the thief on the cross?  He sought forgiveness and Jesus said he would meet him in paradise.  That's all it takes...repentence.

What makes you think that catholics are the only ones who can be saved??? John 3:16. For God so loved the world that whosever believes upon him shalt have everlasting life. I don't think that says only Catholic, Buddist, Muslim or whatever. That means "whosever will". It doesn't matter what "religion" or "church" you are in, as long as you accept Jesus as your savior, you will be saved. There are soooooo many denominations, but only one savior. That is Jesus. Only one door, only one way, that is Jesus. Wide is the way and broad is the path that leads to destruction, but norrow is the path that leads to life. JESUS. that is the only way, no matter what "church" you are in or belong to.

Wow.  Quick answers.

I'd like to apologize to any Catholics who are following this.  I didn't mean to provide an occasion for non-Catholics to vent.  I really just want to know what the current orthodoxy is.

I dont know what Mormons believe on this with respect to their religion, either.

What if you lived before Jesus walked the earth, or in the Western Hemisphere before 1492, or in a place like Saudi Arabia where you were brought up to believe that Jesus was only a prophet and anyone who tried to tell you different would get you both killed?

John McCain refused to accept a North Vietnamese offer to release him, because he would have been released before other Americans who had been POWs longer.  I guess when it is a matter of Eternal salvation, you can't afford to make a stand for some sort of fairness in God's salvation policy.

I think if Christians went on strike and refused to accept salvation until God's policy made more sense from a fairness standpoint, God would yield.  He would even be proud of us for finally having the courage to stand up for fairness.

God is in control. No matter what is happening in the world today. God is still on the throne. Very soon there will be an entity from heaven come down claiming to be Christ, but it wont be him. Remember in Matt. 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21, when it talks about him saying if they say he is in the desert, don't believe them? Christ does not come first. Antichrist comes first... 2 Thess. warns of this. Woe to those that are with child when I return. Pray that your flight be not in winter. Blessed be the barren. Do you know what all this means???? He who has ears to hear let him hear.

Heaven can begin here on earth when you make up your mind to start it up. I made up my mind and I can be blessed if I choose to be a blessing. You too can help others, your journey and the people you help are your salvation. Count on that. Love will make a way.
