I'm painting on canvas where I first applied two coats of gesso, then an undercoat in acrylic of the base color. I am now using water based oil paint to paint the actual scene. I'm having trouble with the paint sticking. Can water based oil paint be applied over acrylic. All my information has said oil paint could be applied over acrylic, but perhaps water based oil is different?
