I recently went to a new doctor and noticed he was located in something called the Professional Building. I felt better right away.

Speaking from my own personal experience yes. I started this diet by seeing a trained dietician. We sat down one time and worked out a meal plan using the Mediterranean Diet as a starting point. It helped me with my diabetes as my blood sugars are the best they have been in years. Give it a try and one word of advice; it takes time before you will see the results.

Diet may not be enough. You should do a little exercising too. There are tools that help you count how many calories you eat and how many you burn exercising. I use them for free at Project Weight Loss: the menu planner helps you create healthy diet plans; the calorie counter counts the calories in your meals and tells you if that's more than you need to reach your ideal weight; the workout planner helps you choose exercises to burn excess calories; the BMI calculator calculates your current and ideal body mass index . Also, try eating natural foods, proteins, lean meats, plenty of vegetables and fruits, along with many glasses of water (this is Tyra Banks' diet).

The first thing you need to do is figure out your BMI and the amount of calories you need to reduce in a day in order to reach your goal. Set a long term goal and some short term goals. Eat 5 meals a day (smaller portions). Start out in the morning with a fiber rich breakfast (oatmeal with a tbsp of cinnamon on it) cinnamon is a weight loss promoting food, eat a snack between breakfast and lunch make it almonds. Almonds are a huge weight loss promoter there was a study where two groups of people on the same diet except one group ate three servings of almonds a day. The group who ate the three servings of almonds a day lost 56% more weight then the group who didn't eat them. They helped me lose 80 pounds! Lunch keep it light and you will probably feel a little full from the almonds. Eat another snack between lunch and dinner make it fiber related. Then for dinner have lean meats and green veggies. You can have a snack later no more than one hour before bed. Keep it under 200 calories and try to make it fiber related. Make sure you think right too. What I mean by think right is believe in yourself and never doubt yourself. You can do this! Take time everyday to imagine yourself at your goal weight feel how it feels see how you look. Watch your thoughts don't give yourself thoughts like I won't eat that burger because all your mind says is eat that burger. Instead say I am going to eat a salad for lunch today. I know it is generic and I hope you get the point you have to watch how you think. Exercise, since I am not aware of your stats (BMI) here are a few suggestions. Walking. Walking is one of the best exercises a person can do. Swim. Swimming and doing exercises in the pool can help with resistance training and for obese people it is an easy way to help get moving more. You don't have to go join a gym just get moving a little more losing weight is kind of 80/20 80% diet and 20% exercise. Drinks. Cut out any and all soda even diet. Trade them in for iced tea. Iced tea doesn't have calories and why would you want to drink away your calories? Two cups of black coffee a day will boost metabolism. Avocados great weight loss promoting food. Here is a site that has some good information on foods and some programs. There is one program listed on the site that has a diet generator what that means is you have a database of meals built for you. They have a list of over 40,000 different meal options. It is kind of like a plug and play concept. If you are not good at planning meals it is a great plan as the system does all the work for you. Reduce Belly Fat Good luck to you and I know you can do it!

Try going to www.traineo.com (its free!)

They have a bunch of at-home tools if a dietitian is too expensive. They also have support groups with really friendly people who will help motivate you.

From experience --
Atkins helped me lose a lot of weight... I went from a size 20 to a jr's 11 in 9 months. But, I also got scurvy (remember to take your multivitamins!!!) and gained some of that weight back.

Weight Watchers (they have a support group on Traineo with recipes and suggestions!) was also helpful. I bought a kit on ebay and used traineo to help keep me on track. I didnt lose as fast as with Atkins, but my skin was gorgeous and I really felt more energized.

But really... traineo is a great resource. Everyone there is kind and understanding and very, very knowledgeable.

I hope this helps you.

Hello

Here is a simple strategy for weight loss:

AVOID THESE AT ALL COSTS:

Whole milk, 2% milk, bacon, butter, fatty beef, processed foods, colas, white sugar, white flour products, salt, alcohol, cheese,  egg yolks, desserts, junk food

FOCUS ON EATING THESE FOODS:

Fruit and vegetables, skim milk, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat bread, egg whites, skinless chicken breasts, fish, olive oil, nuts and seeds, water, 100% fruit and/or vegetable juice

EXERCISE - walk many miles daily and eventually try to run after you lose enough weight.
