You are making weight loss way too complicated. It is simple math. You need to create a calorie deficit of 3500 calories to lose one pound of fat. In other words, you need to burn more calories than what you consume in order to lose fat. Our bodies generally burn about 1700 - 2000 calories per day just to get through the day. So, if you can cut the calories in your diet to below 1700 per day then you should gradually drop weight. You can obviously speed the weight loss with EXERCISE!
I highly recommend running, but I realize that it is tough to run when you are obese. So, start out with walking several miles each day. Gradually try to do some running during your walks. If you have access to a treadmill then you can adjust the incline to boost the intensity and the calories that you burn each workout.
Eliminate calorie-dense foods from your diet. This means eliminating foods that are high in saturated fat - whole milk, 2% milk, cheese, fatty beef, fatty pork, butter, and most fast food. Also eliminate white sugar products, colas, and white flour products.
Be realistic. Aim for a fat loss of 1 - 2 pounds per week. That might not sound like much, but it really adds up over a year.
