The name Jesus was it used widely by before Jesus came?  The account of James said he was beheaded.   Those who headed James would they have given the head back with the body?

Hi Elaine,
As you know all the names in the Bible are Hebrew names, and most names have a meaning (e.g: Emanuel meand G-d is with us).  Jesus in Hebrew reads ישו  (in English it is Yeshu [short for Yehushua] like the famous Yehushua Ben-Nun).  Untill today that name is in regular use in Hebrew.

I wondered about this because of the name Mary. So this artifact that Mr. Golan found could belong to number of families at that time. It's not that the coffin is old but I have my doubts that it might be James. I remember you once said that most Israelis don't know which Tribe they are original conneted to so based my question on your information. Just to let you know.
