You did not mention that being Jewish is either through the matrilineal line or by conversion, never through the father. One American sect called Reform do believe in this ,but Israeli Jews and rabbis definitely do not, neither do Jews all over the world. This creates real problems and pain for young persons who are rejected from marrying Jews because they simply are not Jews themselves. Even by marrying each other they are still not Jews.
