Back injury that is wasting my life

Well I have been pondering this for a long time and maybe someone out there can give me a clue.  Several years ago I was an active rancher.  Riding daily, building barns and fences, then I fell and injured my back.  That was three years ago.  Now all I can do is sit.  I can walk and if I stand in line at a store for any length of time the pain becomes unbearable.  I am on very strong pain killers to no avail. My question is why am I still on this earth if I can not have any quality of life?  I dont want to live like this at all.  I tried to accept that I can no longer ride my horses or train them any more. I can not accept that I am sitting in a chair just waiting for death to take me.   I also came to the conclusion that there isnt very much that I can do.  So what do you all suggest?  Tell me why I have to exist in this fashion?  My faith is gone.  My energy is gone.  My everything is gone.  So why waste the oxygen or space when all one becomes is a bump in the road?  Thanks

Acupuncture, massage therapy, and electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) are alternative therapies that may be effective in patients who do not respond well to prescription pain killers.  If you have never tried them, now is the time.  Please visit the Pain News page on my website http://www.best4health.net for more information.  Please don't give up hope.  You don't have to accept the notion that you cannot train or ride your horses again.  You have made the right decision to have come to this website.  Let us work together to make it work for you.

Brenda, I know an injury of this nature is devastating. I also know you must feel like you have lost yourself because of it. It also sounds like you have had lots of time to try and make peace with you situation and haven't. The standard and best answer is that based on your comments you need to talk to a counselor. Depression can physically add to your pain. Someone can help you with that. You should also be working toward a better answer for your pain with your doctor. If he can't help, find another Dr. Your life is bigger than your pain. You are focusing on what you have lost and not what you can still enjoy. Make a point to find something you can be greatful for every day. Even if it is as simple as the sunshine on your face, a friend's kind word, or being around your animals, be thankful. My sister has faced a similar situation, she is in a wheelchair for life. It took time for her to realize her life is bigger than her two legs. But she did and is finally happy just to be alive. Your life is worth living. Find a counselor and a dr who will help, and try everyday to find happiness in the little things.

A penny saved  is a penny earned

hi Brenda,  i read this and had so much pain for you in my heart because i understand what you are going thru, because i was there.  i started staying home all the time because it alsohurt me to stand in line for more than a few minutes, pain would shoot up my legs and back and I would FEEL like i was going to faint. i would lean forward on to a counter to get the pressure off my hurt
GO TO THIS SITE(  siteadmin@best4health.net ) please  over the last 2 years, my health has just run down hill because doctors want to just give pain medicine instead of really finding the reason or sending you to someone that know's about what is wrong with with your symptoms will tell you all about it if allow me to.  i have 5-7 specialist's i now go to and 1 reg doctor.some of this could of been prevent or dealt with earlier before progressing if i would of had them before this past 2 years. i use to be VERY  active 2 years ago. i ask for you to be a contact so i can talk to you privately about a lot of this. iamcurious is right about the ems machine, it has done so much good for me. i go to his web site all the time   best4health.net  a lot of interesting in the site. questions answer about health,  food,  and spiritual help just to name a few. your doctor should of talk to you about your depression and refer you to someone that could help you because belive me depression is worst than the flu.  all you want to do is stay in bed, stay away from people and don't want anything to eat. it is a sickness that is hard to get rid of unless you are willing. there is no magic pill you can take for it to go away.  it's hard work and telling your mind to behave.  God has been my best friend thru all my pain everyday.  see a specialist of whoever part of your body is hurting.  you might not even know something is there that is hurting you where they have been trained to know.  i strongly suggest to go to hematogist. they tell you your reading and go over the results before you leave the office. ( mine does ) they can tell you so much about the right kind of blood test that they run without pain or drinking bad stuff and have mri, x rays etc done to you.that is how i found out that i have lupus. you go to them every 3 months to see how you are doing .  at first i had to go more often because of medication they started me on from my r.a. & lupus doctor.   i go to the hematolagist any time i have to have any kind of blood work down  instead of a place that takes your doc prescription and run a few test like clorestal, iron, ect, where they draw blood and the results are sent to you doctor.  i hpe i help a little brenda and hope i can help more.
please let me hear from you  maybe i can help, even a little.
God bless
