MY AC unit, in the attic has frozen up. I turned the unit off and I am letting it thawn out. Is this something that I can fix, or is there blocking the unit to prevent it's normal fuction?

Turn your Auto/On fan switch to On. This will hasten the thawing. Your system is probably low on freon. There are other problems that cause freezing up but low freon is the most common cause. You will need to have someone add freon to your system if you cannot do it yourself.
