why does everything have high fructose corn syrup in it? I am tryin to ban it from my diet but then what do we eat?
Unfortunately the majority of North America seems to be addicted to sugar in general. I am also trying to cut out sugar and I find that the easiest way to do it is to buy fresh food and cook for myself. I only drink water and I like to look for sugar free things when ever I'm out. It's tough, but at the end of the day, it works and I do feel so much better. We don't realize how dependant we can become on sugar. I find myself less hungry now, and I understand that I only used to eat because my body would crave something sweet.
The corn farmers lobby. Vast areas of USA are devoted to growing corn because congress has made it very profitable. So there is a lot of corn and corn sugars. It's a cheap way for food processors to make sweet tasting products.
HFCS is a natural sweetner that also provides texture, freshness, and flavor to food. Its just like sugar. If you don't want to eat it then just eat fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry, pastas. Stay away from processed foods!
