Is he on heroin?

I recently began thinking that my partner of 10 years was becoming increasingly distant and discovered that he has been seeing someone else.

I did a little snooping around the house for some additional clues and found more than what I expected.  Crack pipes, spoons with burnt residue, straws, mirrors, cocaine, and another substance that was rock-like and a light yellowish brown.

Is this heroin?

I am just trying to get all of my facts straight before I confront him.

It sure isn't a piece of salt water taffey.  Its a drug. A drug is a drug is a drug.  He hid it from you so it can't be something innocent and legal.  Probably crack. Ten years is a long time in a relationship; and you might even have children together.  You have some hard choices to make once you confront him. Also, after you confront him, he too will have some hard decisions to make.  I'll keep you in my prayers.  DR

Well here is my 2 cents for what it is worth.

Why do you need to know if it is heroin? Will that be the deciding factor? First of all he is seeing someone, you establised that.

Second, you found an arsenal of drugs which is like another mistress and he is spending time and money on that. Then you find what probably is heroin or something equally dangerous and illegal and now you decide to confront him with facts.

He has put you in the position of going down with him. Who cares what you found. You found it, it will probably kill him, destroy brain cells he will never get back and spiral his life down to hell.

So what is there to confont? Run, don't walk away as fast as you can. Rid yourself of him ASAP, don't be an enabler and help him with rent and bills by staying with him.

It is your choice but, think about it. The sooner the better. Just say bye bye and feel bad for a week or so and get on with your life. While you  still can think clearly!

Good Luck!

I'm glad to see you've made a decision with a positive outcome for yourself.  As with all decisions we make, myself included, it is not uncommon to revisit the choice and question ourselves - - - I think that is part of being human.  So if you revisit this remember what the truth is and keep your best interests in mind.  Well, enough of me sounding like the wise-old-sage; I'm just a person who's had many pumps along the way. your partner had a problem just like we all have problems. just because he was using drugs didnt mean he didnt love you. you could have gave him a choice to stop instead of just leaving. minimare your wrong for saying that. being with someone for ten years then finding out that they have a problem. you should try to help them with that problem to get them better.
