I feel like after receiving a letter 3 working shifts after an incident happen between myself a coworker and my friend i should bring it up with the boss who wrote it. i wasn't even asked what happen that day and if they feel what had happen was big enough to give me my first warning after working there for three years now why wasn't i questioned? isnt that wrong?
now im going to explain what happen that day in shortest terms because its a long story.
but before i continue know that i will take this letter gladly but i want parts of it changed because honestly some of it offends me, and im thinking that the boss didn't even get the right story, not only that but the friend it involves is my friend who previously WORKED there and knows everyone there so shes no random customer.
So it goes like this. I work at a Restaurant/Deli all in the same building, I work in the deli and my friend ordered from the restaurant. so she got her order and she left but comes back its wrong. so i thought i could take her back there we can switch the buns because she ordered two hamburgers and it would take a matter of 5 minutes no problem. well i was wrong. we go back there and i say "the stuff on the buns is wrong on one and the other she asked for no tomato" so both cooks (there was two that day) said "well that wasnt what was on the bill" and went out of there way to show us that, that wasn't on the bill. and they were right it was written wrong on the bill ( but the point is my friend has been ordering her burgers the same way for 19 years she knows what she wants on it so why would she say it wrong?) so finally they take apart the buns and are going to fix it.. i go into the staff room which is connected to the kitchen so i can still hear exactly whats going on when i hear my friend saying thats not what i ordered and so on. so i come around the corner to find that the cook was just going to SCRAPE off the mayonnaise and but it back together. well when you put mayonnaise on bread that shit dont come off. so thats when my friend said "i am a paying customer thats not what i ordered and i'd like a new bun for that burger." thats when the cook who was just going to scrape off the stuff said something back but finally put a new bun on the grill. my friend started walking towards me and said "that was bullshit" when another coworker not the cooks walked by and made a face and mouthed "whos that" while she was looking at my friend. so i said" thats my friend and I brought her back here" when the cook who was going to scrape of the stuff and said something to my friend honestly started to raise her voice and unleash what she was feeling at that moment so when she was done yelling at us i said something back. i said "frist of all i wasnt even talking to you so you dont have any reason to yell at me" and i let her know what i was feeling. in that moment i know i was incontrol of my emotions i was loud yes i will admit that but so was the cook and i know for a fact i was not once threatning or violent in anyway. so once im done saying what i felt the cook started to say how me and my friend were "no good snotty teenagers and to get out the kitchen right now." i was, at that point almost laughing me and my friend were taken aback at how rude this 50 year old plus lady is acting towards us. so my friend made the comment of "you get what you give" and left the kitchen. where i proceeded to stand and wait till the burger was made because i knew the moment i left they would all be talking about this and my friend.
please note that the whole time me and this coworker are yelling at each other, honest to god, the MANAGER is standing next to me just shaking her head and not saying a word. she didnt stop us once.
so im standing there and the cook that was yelling tells me to come into the staff room where she closes the door and starts to tell me " you can talk to your mom that way but dont you ever speak to me, or another coworker, a friend, a customer, or an elderly that way again. and if you do i ll take you out back and kick your ass." i dont care if she laughed after she said that, to me thats a threat. so anwayys from there i was so mad i just agreed with her and left the kitchen ( i know for a fact she couldnt kick my ass so i just let that comment go but that was a threat in the work place) and went outside to have a smoke. thats when my friend came outside to me (she was still waiting for her burger buns) when she asked me what happen i just told her to drop it. so the next time i came into work it was over i was talking to the cooks talking to the manager as if nothing happen.
So yesterday i get a letter saying something like this
"this letter will serve as my first warning for my EMOTIONAL OUTBURST and LACK OF JUDGMENT shown on that day where the put the date. then it goes on to say that no one other then staff memebers are allowed in the back and that we should of addressed it with a waitress and let her deal with it.
First of all
the date they put on my letter is wrong, it happen on a tuesday and they put wedneday i dont even work wednesdays.
i want to know how come i wasnt questioned about it
i want to know what story the boss was told
i want to know if anyone else got a letter becasue the cook who started the yelling deserves one too
i want to make sure the boss knows exactly what happen so i want to tell him the story.
and no where in the store does it say that people are not allowed in the kitchen because my friend is not the only that has been back there.
and not only that but if my friend wasnt back there to witness them just scrapeing off the stuff and putting it back together thats how she would of got it and if thats what she wanted she could of done that home, what if she was allergic to mayonnaise?
and about the waitress part after this was all said and done the waitress that took my friends order asked me what all the yelling was about and i told her that my friends order was wrong thats when the waitress told me that my friend said it wrong and that it was my friends mistake. so really what good would that of done.
i just want to know if im at the right here
i really want to talk to the bosses about this.
