It is very likely your father is trying to let you know he is around and OK. Many times spirits of our loved ones do come to their families to attempt to let them know they OK. But usually that time allowed with you is limited. Because they have to move on and translate all the happenings of their life. Talk to your Dad tell him how much you loved him and allow him to go on. Don't ask him to stay, that is when a spirit can become trapped. His love for you can make him want to stay but that isn't really what you want for your Dad. He needs to continue his journey with God, and will be there to greet you when you cross.
