I've entered the US in 1993 as a tourist and stayed. In 2006 my german passport expiered. I never applied for any visa, residency or citizenship or anythingelse. Now I want to go back to germany and will not be given an new passport until I proof that I am still a german citizen. ???  I had to fill out form G-639. I don't understand why and simply can't efford to wait up to six month for Homeland Security to find documents that don't exist. I am NOT an american citizen and have never given up my german citizenship. Please help..... What are my rights here and how can I get my passport, that according to the german consulate, will be handed out to me as soon as they have a written statement from the homland security, that states no records could be found, or basically..... I am NOT an american citizen. Why is the burden of proof on ME?... to proof something negativ? And obvioulsy.... they already have my passport ready...?

To say nothing, especially when speaking, is half the art of diplomacy.

I think you have two options:
1. Contact the people that work for the German Consulate again and ask for their assistance.
2.  Have you tried contacting any German media and see if they can try and help you? I am sure they have people that work on issues that deal with consumer rights and bureaucracy.
