What is gabardine?
It is an excellent upholstery material that is made from wool. It is a hard-finished fabric that is woven in a tight twill diagonal pattern.
Gabardine evenly a bit more appropriate for dress wear; poly poplin equable makes me reflect of surgical scrubs. There shouldn't be any important difference in the roughness of using the two fabrics unless the gabardine contains wool or cotton, in which case pressing should be explicitly easier than with the poly (just be careful not to over press).
