Free Search for Marriage Records

Free Search for Marriage Records

Do you know of a marriage records website with a data base where one can do a free search for marriage records online.
I would like to perform a nationwide marriage records check.
Obviously the info should be up to date and trustworthy.

Much appreciated.

Ok, I used Gov marriage records searches   , a good service
but plenty of knocks just to find them,
this is  what I discovered beforehand:

1) Info from Governmental and free marriage records websites are seldom current or complete - reliability is questionable.

2) A fee is usually charged at these sites anyway.

3) Most importantly : Using these sites one is limited to an individual state or county search. State departments only complete data for their respective state (quite understandably) however, No government website exists to collect and order info to form a nationwide marriage records database.
And so one should ask  "What about people who have lived in various states?" Their marriage records will not show up in other states.

Make up your own mind but I found the paid search to be quicker, accurate more convenient and reliable.

Hopefully this can help someone who wants to do a free search for marriage records,
if it has then let me know and post an answer here.

Cheers

"Public" doesn't necessarily mean free - a county clerk has to spend tax money to put them on the Internet.

If you have the dates and the names, you might find them in the vital statistics section or the Women's pages in old newspapers on microfilm, at the library.
