We're a family of 5, with an 8yrs, 5yrs and 2 yrs and want to spend the day in London on New Years Eve. Do you think it will be too busy ?! Many thanks
Main hubs such as Oxford Street and Leicester Square are always very busy - particularly during the festive and sales seasons. Other places should be quieter though. Greenwich is lovely for a family day out. The museums at South Kensington and the British Museum are great for families - and they are free! Check out http://www.visitlondon.com/people/family/ for lots of ideas for things to see and do.
Central London - especially along the Thames where the firework display is - gets so busy that you can hardly move. Certain London Underground stations are closed too so it's harder to get away if you want to. I personally would not take young children as it may be quite overwhelming for them.
I second the recommendation of Greenwich although public transport coverage in that part of London is sparse and you will be relying on the Docklands Light Railway and buses unless you drive.
