hi my name is christine, i sufferred from sudden hair loss just very recently, and i suspected it is due to my long hours of work at the computer. Could you attest to that? the hair loss is very localised i.e. a bunch on the right of my skull. thanks.

Hi Christine,

You should go to the Dr.'s. It could be something as insignifigant as an allergy, but it could be something more serious. I have heard of this when women have an imbalance with there pituitary glands.

Sometimes stress makes us lose hair.Relax it's just life:) If the hair loss is causing you pain then you should visit this place called ego extensions l.a. they sell human hair wigs like the ones Beyonce wear.It will help you to stay looking pretty while your hair grows back. They helped me out when I had hair loss due to Thyroid problems.

Hi Christine, hair loss could be due to other reasons. I wouldn't testify it being due to you sitting long hours infront of the computer. It could be due to hormonal changes, age, stress, etc. It is preferable you see a doctor.

All the best.

as others pointed out you need to see a doctor. but from what you are saying i gathered that it could be alopecia areata since it is located to the right of your skull (so it is not diffuse or near the top) and it started suddenly. your long hours of work could have triggered this mysterious disease. you might have seen people with small bald spots or white patches of hair on their scalp that dissapeared a few years later and then in some people reemerged elswhere on the scalp after another couple of years. this disease is also called spot baldnes or patch baldnes and it is very common. just google for alopecia areata - some good resources are 1 and 2 and 3 and many more...

christine, it certainly sounds like stress related alopecia. See your doctor and see if you may need to be put on medication to calm your nerves. Generally if it is stress related, once the stress is alleviated the hair growth returns to normal. Some people, for reasons unknown are more suseptible to this condition than others when under stress. Stress affects the body in a myraid of different ways, some develope headaches, others stomaches and or backaches, others vascular problems, others, hair loss.

See your doctor. He can best prescribe what you need to calm your nerves and take care of your problem.

Hi i have been a hairstylist for 20 years, and have had many clients complain of hair loss, i have found that it could be caused by your diet, hormones, lupus, thyroid, or drinking to much alcohol, no dermatologist could help any of my clients, i found with my experience when i have had hair loss using hair vitamins worked the best, Nu-Hair for women from CVS pharmacy , ask the clerk where its located as it isn't usually in the vitamin section, i have recommended this for many years, hope this helps. Jill
