I am also looking for answers on a strange ...

I am also looking for answers on a strange pulsating on my right back thigh that started several months ago. I also have a big lump on the same thigh. The vascular surgeon said it has nothing to do with circulation and sent me to a neurologist who said nothing she can do about. I broke my right leg several years ago and lost the synovial fluid. Maybe this account for the lump.  I have an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon hoping for answers. I see several people have this problem, but so far no answers or solutions. Any help out there?

I'm all jacked up on Mountain Dew!

Well let's see if I can help.  (Let me first say I am not a doctor and have little to no formal medical training!)  I have a lump on the front of my left thigh from a hematoma I got a little over two years ago.  Everything healed up fine, the vascular docs say there's no clot or anything, and there's nothing unusual on my MRI or ultrasound.  About six inches above where this lump is, I get muscle spasms in my thigh muscle!  Usually they are a minor annoyance, just a little twitching, but sometimes it can become a very deep and painful spasm.  On bad days I take some kind of NSAID, usually Celebrex or Advil, to keep swelling to a minimum, and a muscle relaxant called Klonopin.  They tried Flexeril at first, but it did very little to relieve the spasm.  The doctors still say they're not sure that the lump is causing the muscle spasms, but I don't have any spasms anywhere else.  I suspect that the lump pushes on some tendon or muscle that doesn't like to be pushed on, and I get the spasm as a result.  It's kind of something I've just had to deal with, and will have to continue to just deal with until the lump goes away or I die, whichever comes first!

Hope this helps, good luck with your Ortho!  A good one of those is worth their weight in gold!!

"... build on the awareness of ever-present substance and expand your faith in the stability of your own inner wholeness...".  Eric Butterworth - Spiritual Economics

Hello Smiling Cosmos,

Cute name for a handle.  As to your situation.

Interesting how lumps and spasms show up in our life's.  There was a time in my life when I use to have many muscle spasms and a few lumps in my legs.  Especially spasms in my calves.  Wow.  Did they ever hurt...  During that time of my life I was experiencing an excessive amount of stress and my overall health was not so good.

I looked inward for a solution because I wasn't getting any from the medical community.  Drugs just did not solve anything.  In that process I discovered many things about myself in the way of patterns of behavior that was unconscious until I became aware of them.  So I began to meditate and do forms of de-stressing exercise - Tia Chi, Yoga, Qigong.

What I discovered about myself was truly an awareness of who I am is not my body.  When this started to sink into my thick skull my entire life changed.  I lost weight, I began to eat a much healthier diet for my body's blood type.  I paid much closer attention to balancing and harmonizing my immediate environment.  My relationships with others altered as well.

The point to all this is the spasms and lumps just disappeared.  I had given up the notion that I needed to know 'WHY' they where occurring.  I did not find the answer to my health issues in my mind... My heart knew exactly what to do.

Stress is, in my view, the # one cause of all illness, dis-ease and death in the world.  So... Find ways to remove the accumulation of stress in your body.  Practicing Qigong daily is one of the best ways to do just that.  Here is a link to a form of Qigong Exercise that you can learn that is simple to do.  This website has videos of 5 easy to learn Qigong exercises that can rapidly alter your life for the better... Love and Light... Gary

Thank you very much for the answers. At this point I am willing to try anything that will help. It might be something I have to deal the rest of my life, or with some stress relief exercises it might lessen. Even though I don't have a definite answer, I feel now that I don't have any life threatening illness. I am still keeping the appointments with the neurologist (nerve tests! and my orthopic surgeon). Just to be on the safe side. Thanks again.
