Clos, it actually does ring true. You can work out for 3 hours a day, but if your heart rate is not high enough during your workout, you're not losing any calories. Does that make sense?

Hello

I think that our hearts would explode if they were beating 270 - 350 beats per minute.  Maximum heart rates are generally in the range of 150 - 200 beats per minute depending on a person's age.  But the author of the article does make a valid point. A lot of people don't exercise hard enough to get any significant results. I see people all the time in the gym who are just going through the motions and not really putting any intensity into their workouts and consequently get no results.
