What check? You need to be more specific.

Additionally, it sounds as though you may be the target of a scam artist (at least, as based on this question).

If you received an unsolicited and unexpected check via the mail and you are supposed to cash the check and wire a portion of the money to someone in another location; DO NOT DO IT!

I think JKGrandma is right on the mark. If you cash a check at the bank, the bank usually gives you the cash within 3 days. However, it can take the bank over a week to find out that the check is no good. The bank then cames back to you for the money. Just because the bank gives you the money in 3 days, does not mean that the check is good. DO NOT BE SCAMED.
