Marijuana should have never been put in the same category as heroin, cocaine, or meth. It does cause lethargy, it enhances sight, sound and taste. It does not promote aggressiveness, or violence. It has pain reducing qualities and causes mild euphoria. If involved in an activity it can focus the user. It promotes creativity.
The down side is when smoked it can lead to chronic bronchitis. It may be eaten as an ingredient in foods which solves the bronchial problems but the effects take longer to occur and lasts longer.
It is used medically for people with chronic pain syndrome and in cancer and AIDS patients to enhance the appetite. It is not addictive but can be habit forming. If someone is a frequent user and wants to stop, they just stop with no residual medical dependence. There is no day after hangover.
