First clean and inspect swollen area with warm soapy water. You can then check and see if theres a thorn, cut , or glass or something sharp that maybe you can pick out.
Otherwise, try soaking the dog's paw in epsom salts twice a day, and then clean with peroxide (an antiseptic). Hope this helps,
