Xr400 problem

I have a 1999 xr400 for some time now i have been trying to sorta problem with it miss firing whenever i splash through water i have tried running a hose oin it when its ruinning to see what area this effects but i am not having a lot of luck has anyone any ideas or had this problem i have sprayed wd40 and it does not cure it
