Turn off the television and teach your children how to think.

Your nephew and his parents need to get legal advice from a good Family Law attorney.

Have them contact their state's Bar Association and ask for a referral to an attorney in their area. Fees are usually very reasonable (in my area it is $30 for a half-hour consultation) and the attorney will be able to advise them on what steps to take.

In any case, your nephew and his parents should probably initiate legal paperwork to establish Court Orders regarding custody and paternity - and this can be done by agreement, so that the young parents are not at odds with the resulting Orders.

Again, I urge them to seek legal advice from an experienced Family Law attorney.

Good luck.

Cool Equal justice for All

The law works but the system needs changed, We all abide by the law but sometime it failes us. The same with the goverment. God bless the USA, Brign our troops HOME safely, To the men who did not get the credit they deserve, MAY GOD WATCH OVER OUR SERVICE MEN.

Yes you have a good point but as him being only 16 years old his rights are limited make sure the child is his then contact the legal aid office for your advice. And no a consultation is free in most states. But his parents or guardin is the Adult in this case and must take the bull by the horns. If indeed this child is his the Parents need to go to court in his matter in hand an if need be get the court to draw up the necessary paper work. If this young lady is as you say she needs a no contact order with this child now as an uncle talk to his parents and see ehat they want for this child as the old saying goes once a drug addict always a drug addict. As that fact never changes as she seems to think of partying and takeing drugs than this child so under law she is called an unfit mother who should have better than this. As i think you will agree with me on this fact. Have his parents go for custodey complete and total with a no contact order on this mother.
