To make sure I understand, this condition appeared "suddenly," and she began limping around, is unwilling to get up, and cries. It isn't clear where she is limping, but hip dysplasia is degenerative, and I am not a vet so I can't say that it is impossible for that to occur with sudden onset, I haven't heard of any situations personally where that occurred. I had a Bernese Mountain Dog who developed hip dysplasia, and it was gradual, she started slipping on her back legs, and it worsened to the point where at her weight and size, surgery and recovery would have been inhumane, and I had to unfortunately euthanize her to spare her any more pain. However, from what facts you put in your question, and what facts are not clear, it still is clearly a sign that you need to get her to a vet right away, she may have broken a bone, she may have injured one of her paws, or have any one of a number of injuries that you may not see on the outside. I urge you to take her immediately to a veterinarian. Not only will they be able to identify the possible causes of this immediate onset of pain and difficulty walking, if it is indeed hip dysplasia, there are some treatments out there, (my dog was in a two dog home also, and with a lab who saw her growing more frail, so took every chance to jump on her and cause her more pain, and I also had a flight of steps from every entrance, so it would have been horrific for her to have to endure being carried (with difficulty by me) up and down, she could not have gone to the bathroom without pain, and the lab was doing what herd animals do, they want to be alpha, so I don't want to imply if it is dysplasia that it is over). But if she sustained some sort of trauma or has a broken bone, there is a likelihood she could be bleeding internally, and again, I urge you to please take her immediately to see a vet so that she can be made comfortable, assessed, and you will also find out what it is that is causing the pain in the first place. It's not a situation I would personally feel comfortable in taking a "wait and see" approach, and you clearly sound distressed and concerned, and this is something that on every level there is only one option to stop her suffering and get answers, and that is to get her immediate veterinarian attention. I know how this feels, and you may be having fears that the worst will be the case, but please know you are strong, you reached out for answers and you are also I hope feeling the support that so many of us who have pets are sending you. I am sending you both positive energy and I hope that you please take her right away so that the unknown will be known, and because of the predisposition for a certain condition doesn't mean that is what she has, (again, I don't believe it is even a sudden onset situation, it is a degeneration of the hips, so it wouldn't come on suddenly, and you didn't tell us where the limping is coming from on her, so I wouldn't be so quick to say it is that at all).
I hope you send us an update on what the vet says, and please know you are in my thoughts, there are a lot of us out here who care and are supportive, and we will all be with you when you are at the vet. Please keep us updated, and please get her to her vet immediately, for her and for you. Take care, ok?
