Weight loss with lifestyle change instead of diet???

Ok lets see if I can finally write a question that someone will answer! My question is on weight loss. I am interested in losing weight, a lot of it. About 100+ pounds to be more detailed. But I am not interested in a diet! I am interested in a life style change. Since all I ever read is how diets don't work, all that happens is you lose some weight then when the diet is over you gain it all back! I don't want that! My problem is, it that every diet/weight loss thing on the Internet contradicts its self! One page will tell you all these things aren't healthy for you and another page will say that they are! So does anyone out there have any advice for me??? Any websites I should check out! I need something that will brake the information down in the simplest form possible. I don't want to be confused. I have no idea how to count calories, or how many calories you should consume or stuff like that. I am also broke and there for cannot afford a Nutritionist, Gym membership or Personal trainer....so if your advice includes these it will not help me. And also any advice on how to not end up with gross saggy skin during weight loss will be of great help...and maybe a tip or two of how to get rid of stretch marks if you have them! Thanks in advance to all of you that might be able to help me!

There is no weight loss method that does not consist in watching what you eat. Eat what you want, Eat 3x a day plus 2 snacks. Make sure they are small proportions. If you feel full then you are headed to overeating. Stop when you no longer feel hunger. Move around if you dont exercise. Walk and shop without spinning money. I also tried the lipotropic injections that liquify  your fat and you pee it out. This really helps and is only about $16.00 an injection. You can get it once a week or up to 3 x a week but no more. Beleive in yourself.

There is a site www.caloriecount.about.com that should help you.  It has all sorts of good info on calories, etc.  You really need to know how many calories you are eating, since the ONLY way to lose weight is to expend more calories than you take in.  This site  also will tell you how many calories you should have a day based on your weight goals. All the fad diets sound good, but they basically limit the number of calories you can have.  In addition, you don't need a health club.  Walking is one of the best exercises out there and can be done anywhere.  If you can do some stretching or weight lifting at home, it will help.  Use canned food or anything with some weight to it and lift.  Hope this helps you.

Hi Angel,

Congratulations on your decision.  I recommend starting by creating a food journal.  There has been a lot of research done since the 1970's showing that people who log what they eat end up losing a significant amount of weight.  I think this is the foundation for a "lifestyle" change towards a healthier body.

Think about how many times you eat during the day without thinking about it: grabbing a cookie someone at the office has out on a plate; accepting a piece of birthday cake with a nod and walking off to another task; purchasing a candy bar at the quick mart and eating it on your drive to your destination; taking a second helping of mashed potatoes while chatting with your dinner companions.  The list goes on and on. Logging what you eat makes you consistently aware of what you put into your body.

Just get a notebook and pen that you can keep with you at all times.  For the first week or so go about your "regular" daily routine observing your "normal" eating habits writing down every single food and beverage you put into your body.  Make sure not to change the way you eat... just go about your normal routine.  For example:

- 8:01am bowel of Captain Crunch Cereal

- 9:13am cup of coffee

- 11:00 lunch at taco bell (2 burritos, 1 taco, 1 large Dr. pepper)

- 4:00 snickers bar

- 5:30 dinner (frozen pizza)

- etc.

After the first week you should have enough data to get a good understanding about your diet, eating habits, and how they correspond with your lifestyle.  From here you can start making some decisions based on the results.  For example, if everyday you are ordering fast food for lunch and fatty snacks while you're at work, you can start finding alternatives such as bringing your own lunch from home and a healthier snack option.

Without the above info, it's almost like you're flying blind when deciding how to start making changes towards a healthier lifestyle.

Regarding your concern about not knowing how many calories you need, I have some free weight loss tools at my website you can use that can help you figure out how many calories you need to eat to lose weight and what exercises you can do in order t lose weight.  There are other tools that might help as well.

You don't need a gym membership either.  Walking around the neighborhood is a great start to burning calories but I do recommend you start learning on how to read food labels and how to determine portion sizes.  This will be key to losing the weight and keeping it off.

Ignorance is no longer bliss. The more you know, the more likely you can achieve your goal but make no mistake... it will not be easy.  Good luck Angel!

Regards,

Ernesto

Dear Arlene,

I  just read your post and I can identify with you. I have been on every diet there is out there, remember that the word diet has the word DIE in it, so diets as you know don't work. You are on the right track when you say that you want a lifestyle change because loosing weight is mostly a mental thing. We need motivation, I like to call it a "personal motivating factor"  something that is a do or die situation for you. If you can't think of a situation to motivate you, make one up.  Forget counting calories but do remember that if you take in more calories then you burn you gain weight thats all thats to it.  So everyone says eat less and move more, but some people just can't get into an excersize mode until they shed a few pounds and feel more comfortable.   Like I said I have tried many programs but I did find one that worked for me and I follow it religiously, I will supply the link to it at the bottom of my post.  With anything that wer are trying to accomplish be it losing weight, writing a book, quitting smoking, we have to really want to do it, or  nothing will work. There is no magic bullet for this if there was I would have found it but with some determination a little hard work anything is attainable, I know I've been there.

Check out this program you have nothing to lose but the weight!.  Good luck to you. Here is the link. http://rbnj57.stripfat.hop.clickbank.net

This simple program that I found worked for me and a few people I on turned on to it.  It's called ' Strip The Fat", They expalin what to eat when you go out to a restaurant which helped me considerably,

Weight Loss really isn't that complicated. Honestly all you have to do it eat less and exercise more! Try to exercise for about 30 minutes at least 4 times per week and try to make some healthier food choices. Start eating more fruite and vegeatables. Cut down on the amount of takeaways or processed foods, if you are eating any of them. The main thing is to exercise more, that will make a differnence. Also If you are interested, we have launched a website that provides free weight loss advice, you can check it out here Weight Loss Advice. Good Luck.

Ok just wanted to give everyone that may be watching this question an update! It was really late when I wrote this question so I was not as elaborate as I needed to be. Its not that I have absolutely no clue what I am doing, its that I want to know what I am doing wrong. Some of you have given really good advice, and are really motivating at what you are saying. But these websites aren't really helping. I understand that in order to lose weight you have to eat less move more! But how???? Considering I have in the past cut portion sizes, broke up with fast food, included more vegetables and fruits. Nothing happened. I stopped eating chicken with skin, started eating more tuna! Nothing! I also included walking everyday, Nothing happened. So I included walking in the morning and at night! Still nothing. And I cannot get away with saying nothing....just the opposite of what is supposed to happen when you do all of the above...I gained weight. And I don't mean I gained a pound or two. I know what you are all probably thinking...I either gained a few pounds or maintained weight because muscle weighs more than fat! Totally not what happened considering I gained 70lbs that's right 7 0 LBS! In 7 months! So if you have any ideas of what I may be doing wrong please let me know!

Hi there, sorry you didn't find my site useful but if you want you can visit it and fill in a form and I'll get one of our nutritionists to have a look at . Visit here. Unfortunately walking isn't really good enough. You need to run! I promise you if you went running for 5 days per week for a minimum of 30 minutes, the weight will fall off. You just have to do it!

I don`t know why yedda is sending me your question 3 months late. I hope that you have found some answers. I have a website on weightloss, but I took a different direction with it focusing more on health.... I know of a $5. dollar book that will completely give you the best education on your body and what is good for you than you will ever learn elsewhere. This is a link to my review of the book. Extreme Health This is not a sale. I will make nothing, the book can be ordered from any bookstore. Losing weight has to do with getting healthy. Getting healthy has to do with losing weight. Go to my articles page and read some of my articles on Water for weightloss, Exercise, not mixing carbs with fats, etc.. Ther is even a cool one refering to "Jared the Subway Guy." In closing, I have to say that if you are in the market to lose 100lbs than your weight problem is a health problem. You will know that more when you start hitting your 30`s.. So make that lifestyle change now. Go get that book. You will not be sorry that you did. It was written in the early 1900`s by someone who gave a crap, and knew what he was talking about even more than any modern day nutritionist. You will lose your weight, have more energy than you ever have had, reach optimum health levels and avoid trips to the doctors in the future.
