Weight gain after starting estrogen

I have recently started taking estrogen/testosterone (HRT) since my total hyterectomy and have steadily been gaining weight (apro. 50 lbs). Is there a link between weight gain and estrogen?

I take estrogen but I have not experienced any unusual weight gain. Each person's body is different so it could or could not be the estrogen. It could be the combination of estrogen and testosterone.

I take estogen but not testosterone. I was concerned about taking estrogen due to reports of breast cancer in estrogen patients. My doctor told me that the estrogen does not cause breast cancer but estrogen and testosterone patients ran a risk of developing breast cancer. Why are you taking testosterone? It is a steroid and could very well be the source of your weight gain.

Why don't you ask your doctor to switch you to estrogen only. I take Premarin and have never had any problems with weight gain, breast cancer or blood clots.
