I'm looking for suggestions on how to eliminate excessive weeding in my yard. I was too ambitious when I put down foundation plants all around my house, now the weeds are relentless as I get older, especially in our long, hot summer months. I have already eliminated two island beds and the bed around the utilities. I tried landscape fabric but it didn't help much plus you have to lift it to get to the weeds that come through. Tried Preen and round-up in limited areas. I want to have a neat yard but its getting to be too much for me and too expensive to hire someone. Should I pull out the well established shrubs on the sides and back and let the grass grow up to the foundation or could I just mulch around them and let grass grow between. Would that look funny? I think I can keep the front bed without too much work which makes my house look good from the street. Plus, I have potted plants on the porches which I enjoy and can easily care for. Thank you
