My homeowners association is contemplating having a timer installed on the pump which operates the waterfall in our neighborhoods pond. They feel this will save electricity, although the initial cost for the timer is over $300. Does it save electricity or will turing the pump on and off cause too much wear and tear on it and/or possibly use more electricity.
