Water problem

Ask eric stromer a question here.

What is the most inexpensive way to resolve the problem of hard water in the home.  I moved into my dad's house and the hard water is taking a tole on my hair and skin.  I personally had a water softening system at my former home but we cannot afford that type of system.  Is there another way?  Thank you for your professional opinion.........Sonia

In my professional opinion you cannot afford not to have a water softener system.  Eventually,  if the water is as hard as you say, the pipes will clog up and you will have less and less volume and eventually need to replace the water pipes.  If you cannot afford to buy the system outright, you can always rent or lease a system.  Hope this helps.

I've owned my home for 10 years and have rented a Water Softener for that length of time at $18.73 per month...rates may have gone up since (but my daughter began renting hers from same company about 8 mos ago and they pay $25 month).  That IS affordable for the benefits. Also any  problems and they're right out to fix it or clean it and my provider has never charged  a service call.  To me that is well worth the renting.  If it goes out, they'll replace it, too.  (Im on the midwest)
