Water Smell

We purchased a new home about 8 months ago and the water in the house smells real strong. We have well water but it has been check. How & what can I do about fixing this water odor problem? Some have suggested exchanging the Anode rod in the hot water heater. Now if you do that, what kind do you use? Thanks, Billy in VA

If the smell comes from hot water, then it is the anode rod.  If the smells comes from both hot and cold, it comes from the well.  To eliminate the smell if from well, install a pneumatic pressure tank and keep the tank charged with air.  This will allow the gas that makes the water smell to dissipate in the pressure tank and the smell is gone.Smile
