WP to spouse visa within UK?

Hi,
My wife is on WP in UK. I hold a Right to Abode certificate (and hence have no immigration restrictions in UK). My wife needs to change status from WP to spouse visa as she is leaving her current employer. Can she apply for a FLR as my spouse without leaving UK? After leaving her current employer, how long is she entitled to remain in UK on her current visa?
